You see, online is probably libel, not slander. The issue here is not what you really think. I can only discuss with the flow of issues available in the case of Singapore, not at the will and fancy of Singapore.

Multi-jurisdiction will be needed when justice requires, not whether how one thinks it is a waste of money or not. Basically, the reason why we have a need to introduce a lawyer with international laws as background is simply to point out the basic issues of blogging right from the start, which is not under the governance of Singapore’s statute.

The philosophy of regime will have to go hand in hand with the philosophy it handles Pedra Branca, another international issue.

The advise is pretty much valid if you examine carefully in depth.

I am saying very simply that, not that you’d need a Queen’s lawyer, but any local lawyers who know a more complete picture of how such cases actually fit in, which means you’d need someone who knows international laws and global understandings before we make the local court a joke.

And this is just how Scope sees it.

While I cannot stop one from wanting to save money, or seeing no need of it, but for a precedent as such, it’d hopefully help the court before things go haywire.

In blogging, which is actually an international activity, multi-jurisdictional capability is hence needed. i think you should retract your advice because these so called “international lawyers” (depending on where they are from) do not have jurisdictional standing to represent xx.

slander laws in singapore are very peculiar to our nation.

the inquisitorial system in singapore means questioning the “professionalism” of our judiciary is not something which is within our control.

Getting lawyers with a JD is certainly a waste of time and money.

Using firms with multi-jurisdictional capability is not needed.

while online slander is an open textured field with little legal certainty, our tort regime is governed by statute and all you need is someone who can read and has an astute mind to draft arguments aligned with the philosophy our our regime.
